Rationale

In this project I will design an art gallery, I will design a art gallery fits in the Henry Deane plaza. As a private art gallery, I named this gallery as Henry Deane gallery. It is used as a private profit, usually exhibiting Henry Deane’s biography and personal experiences. Because of the Henry Deane plaza is named in commemoration of Henry Deane, I design this art museum for people pass through central to know about this engineer. Besides, I combined the model in project 1 to achieve this design. The model in project 1 i hose has an open space with three triangular roofs. The shape of the museum is inspired by this-the left side is a prominent structure.

My original design was a two-story hollowed-out building, so that people who walk pass could see the inside of the building at a glance. I considered the balance between the art gallery and the surrounding buildings, including the practicality of the building (floor space, light blocking), it should not be too prominent, so I decided to remove the second floor.

MY FINAL MODEL

I used cast plaster powder to make this model. The scale is 1: 100, this building is 6.5 meters high, 9 meters wide and 18 meters long. I dug up the priceline and clothing store in the Henry Deane plaza and designed an area to accommodate the gallery.
